KYTC alerts drivers to snowy conditions

Posted: Updated:
HARLAN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The Kentucky Department of Transportation is alerting travelers to possibly dangerous and snowy road conditions Tuesday.

Drivers heading east on I-64 and I-40 are likely to encounter snow-covered
highways at elevations higher than 2,000 feet according to Keith Todd with
the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He mentions that it is unusual to see road condition reports this early in the year.

Todd adds that U.S. 23 has now opened one lane in each direction after closing earlier. Routes at higher elevations in Harlan and Letcher counties are being plowed and treated with salt in anticipation of difficult driving conditions.
