West Point Halloween delayed by train derailment

Posted: Updated:

WEST POINT, KY (WAVE) – Because of the nearby train derailment, the city of West Point has canceled trick-or-treating for Halloween night and rescheduled it for the coming weekend.

Missy Williams, the West Point city clerk, tells WAVE 3 the reasons behind the cancellation are the road closure. Williams said relatives of some families who live across the Salt River Bridge in Jefferson County would have to travel an hour using the detour to get into the city.

The other reason Williams stated is that the city's police department is tied up with the closure of US 31W (Dixie Highway).

Trick-or-treating in West Point has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 3 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
