DYERSBURG, TN (KFVS) -
Dyersburg Police say they are investigating an attempted abduction that reportedly happened while a child was walking to a bus stop.
Police say around 7:19 a.m. Thursday, an 11 year old female was walking to her school bus stop on Schaffer Street. That's when police say a male approached her from behind and tried to pull her towards a vacant house on Schaffer Street.
The child reportedly struggled with the man and was able to break free and run away.
The male was described as wearing a dark color fleece jacket and latex gloves.
According to Dyersburg police, investigators remained on the scene for several hours interviewing residents and searching for evidence.
Officers were returning to the area Thursday afternoon when school lets out for precautionary measures, and to continue interviewing potential witnesses.
