A Portageville man is facing felony stealing charges in what police are calling an internet scam.

According to Capt. Sarah L. Eberhard, director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control, Randy D. Barton, 24, of Portageville, was arrested on felony stealing charges.

According to investigators, on Monday, October 29 the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department arrested Barton on a felony stealing warrant.

The warrant came after an internet scam investigation conducted by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Digital Forensic Investigative Unit.

Barton was reportedly released from the New Madrid County Jail after posting a $10,000 surety bond.
