Church parsonage catches on fire in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau firefighters battled a basement fire at a church parsonage Friday morning.

It happened at the old church parsonage for the Red Start Baptist Church at 1321 N. Main a little after 10 a.m.

Firefighters say the house was vacant, but utilities were running to the building.

Firefighters say the fire had multiple point of origin, but was contained to the basement.

According to the fire department, the home sustained light fire and smoke damage.

The fire is under investigation.
