PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

There was a Riverfront Development Project groundbreaking held Friday in Paducah on the riverfront.

Colored sand was tossed onto the edge of Schultz Park to represent the upcoming infill project.

Organizers say in Spring 2013,  the city will advertise for bids for the expansion of the land mass that will be along our riverfront into the Ohio River.  That land mass will have to settle for several months before any additional work can begin.

City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy talked about the six endangered mussels that are found in the lower Ohio River. Although, they say only one kind is found in the Paducah area.
