BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The registered sex offender accused of kidnapping a Poplar Bluff 5-year-old is facing additional kidnapping and other charges in relation to another case.

According to Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs, Jeffery Dean Shelton has now been linked to a case involving a 10-year-old Qulin girl.

According to Investigators, Shelton is accused of kidnapping a minor and armed criminal action in connection to an incident on October 20.

Investigators say Shelton acted like he was having car trouble and allegedly asked the 10-year-old, who was raking leaves, if she would get into his vehicle and push the brake.

According to the probable cause statement, when she allegedly got into the vehicle, police say Shelton reportedly pulled a knife and told the minor to put her head in his lap. Shelton then reportedly drove away and took the minor to a residence in Ripley County.

Investigators say the minor later identified Shelton as the man who kidnapped and assaulted her by seeing his picture posted on television news.

A search warrant was then obtained by Poplar Bluff Police for Shelton's cell phone. Investigators say several photos of the minor were reportedly found on the phone.

Friday, prosecutors in Ripley County charged Shelton with child molestation and armed criminal action in another case.

Authorities say there's no court date set for those charges that were filed on Nov. 1.

Ripley County borders Butler County, and that's where Shelton's already charged with four felonies stemming from that Poplar Bluff kidnapping.
