CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -
The VA hospital in Marion has undergone some sweeping changes in the past couple of years, and that includes a brand new outpatient medical center in Carbondale.
Patients have been coming to the new clinic for a couple of weeks, but Thursday is the official grand opening at 1 p.m.
The new clinic is almost 10,000 square feet and is built on the PACT model, which means veterans walk in to the clinic and go to their treatment area to receive all of their care there instead of having to walk from office to office.
Each pod houses a team of providers, including the primary care doctor, case manager, clinical and administrative staff as well as other services.
The VA says it's the ultimate in patient centered care.
The grand opening ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the clinic, which is located at 1130 East Walnut St. in Carbondale.
