CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau City leaders have released the results of two surveys: one dealing with scooter regulations, the other with alcohol.

One hundred fifty-seven people took part in the scooter survey.

It asked questions about scooter driving and riding habits, locations, and insurance requirements.

According to the survey, nearly 78 percent said that scooter drivers should have to wear a helmet.

Sixty-two percent agreed that scooters shouldn't be allowed on streets with a speed limit above 35 miles an hour.

The new scooter ordinance goes into effect November 16.

It requires scooter drivers to wear a helmet and have a license.

And because of the results of the alcohol survey, the city council has decided to shelf the issue for now.

The council wanted to know if new regulations were needed in regards to the age patrons should be to be allowed in any establishment that sells alcohol.

Seventy-two percent of those surveyed responded no.
