Bowling with cold turkeys to quit 'cold turkey'

Participants from Southern Illinois University bowled with a six pound, frozen turkey for their annual turkey bowl in an effort to bring awareness to an unhealthy habit.

The event was done in an effort to help smokers quit smoking for a day going "cold turkey" for the American Cancer Society's 37th Great American Smoke out.

Bowlers donated a dollar or a canned good in order to participate.

The proceeds will go to local food pantries and shelters.
