Branson officials say they are cautiously optimistic about this year's tourist season even though the city continues to recover from a 2012 tornado and the loss of two of its biggest stars.

KY (WAVE) – A Henderson County man is facing nearly 5,500 charges related to child
pornography.
John
W. Smith, 46, of Corydon, KY was arrested on Tuesday after Kentucky State
Police served a search warrant at his home.
Smith
is charged with 5,440 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual
performance by a minor. He was taken to the Henderson County Detention Center.
Smith
was charged by the KSP Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force as a result
of an undercover investigation into the possession and distribution of images
of child sexual exploitation, according to a KSP news release.
Detectives
seized evidence that they said was being used to distribute and/or possess
child pornography. It was taken to the KSP forensic laboratory for examination.
Police
said Smith could face additional charges in the case.
Experts say the officer who killed a Long Island college student and a home invasion suspect on Friday was confronted with a split-second choice.
