As if you haven't heard enough about Jadeveon Clowney's earth-shattering hit on Michigan running back Vincent Smith in the Outback Bowl, there's one more curious and humorous story to report.
At least two edits have happened to Clowney's Wikipedia page in the past 24 hours to reflect fans' love of The Hit.
The first edit came around 1:32 a.m. on Jan. 2.
"During the Outback bowl, after the Gamecocks were denied a fourth down
spot due to incredibly questionable officiating, Clowney exacted justice
on the Michigan Wolverines by blasting through two offensive linemen
and hitting running back Vincent Smith so viciously that his helmet flew
backwards. Smith also fumbled the ball which Clowney recovered with one
hand. The play was reviewed to determine if the play was dead after the
helmet was knocked loose, the officials decided screwing over Carolina
once blatantly during the game was enough and did not want to risk a
riot by making it two bad calls."
That edit was made in Columbia, according to the IP listed by Wikipedia. That entry was eventually deleted by administrators a short time later.
However, the vandalism would continue. A second edit, made by Wikipedia user Jesse21SP was a bit more descriptive.
"In the Outback Bowl, Clowney obliterated the entire state of Michigan
when he hit Wolverines' running back Vincent Smith and forced a fumble.
There are now only 49 states in the United States and Roger Goodell has
suspended Clowney for the first game of his NFL career."
At last check, Michigan remains a state in the union, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has yet to comment on the hit.
