Mariemont, OH (KFVS) -

An Ohio teacher is suing her former school district on the basis of discrimination over an ironic fear of children.

According to Yahoo News, Maria Waltherr-Willard was a high school foreign language teacher in Mariemont, Ohio for several years and has a 'crippling fear' of young kids.

After the district decided to make the classes Waltherr-Willard taught into online classes, the teacher protested and asked parents of her students to do the same. Waltherr-Willard claims the district was upset over her reaction and sent her to teach at a middle school within the district, which the teacher says was a punishment.

The lawsuit states both the teacher and the district had recognized the teacher's phobia and the district had exempted her from transfers within the district presumably so she could avoid working with younger children.

Some aspects of the case have been dismissed, but the three allegations that remain are set to go to court in 2014.
