CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) -

Police arrested two Charleston men Monday accused of an attempted robbery of a convenience store.

At about 10:20 p.m., Charleston Department of Public Safety received a call of suspicious activity behind the Casey's General Store located at 1202 South Main Street in Charleston.

Responding officers discovered two males behind the business wearing ski masks.

The suspects fled on foot but were apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

After an investigation, it was determined that the officers had thwarted a robbery. The two suspects have been identified as Cornelius David, 23, of Charleston and Questus Kent, 17, of Charleston.

Both David and Kent were taken to the Mississippi County Jail facing charges of attempted robbery 2nd degree and resisting arrest. Bond for each is set at $50,000.

The investigation continues, and more arrests are expected.

Anyone with information concerning this crime is urged to contact the Charleston DPS at (573) 683-3737.

"This case was a perfect example of the public giving our department pertinent information, and good old fashioned police work," said Charleston Police Chief Robert Hearnes. "Everything worked out great and nobody got hurt."
