Stranded duck hunter rescued on Crab Orchard Lake

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A stranded duck hunter was rescued on Crab Orchard Lake Saturday morning.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, they got the 911 call shortly before 8:30 a.m.

The caller reported his son had went out to retrieve a duck decoy that had floated away. Due to high winds, deputies say he was unable to return to his hunting party on Duck Island.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife were called in and rescued the stranded hunter along with Carterville fire crews and Williamson County deputies.

The hunter was not hurt.

The sheriff's office reminds everyone to check for proper functioning equipment and current weather conditions before enjoying outdoor activities.
