It’s a heavily debated issue that will come to a vote on the August ballot. It’s called "Right to Farm" or Amendment 1.Many farmers say it would protect them from too much government regulation, but other locals say it would keep the government from protecting the environment.

A truck driver has only minor injuries after a train hit a tractor-trailer carrying grain on AB Highway (Nash Road) south of Cape Girardeau.

Mark Hasheider with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department says a Burlington Northern train hauling coal southbound struck a tractor trailer carrying corn eastbound on AB Highway.

The driver of the truck has minor injuries. He was taken by ambulance away from the scene.

Hasheider says the cab of the tractor-trailer separated when it hit on impact.

The train carried the trailer 1/4 mile south down the tracks. As of 10:30 a.m., the trailer was stuck to the front of the train.

Corn spilled along the tracks.

Traffic is being re-routed near AB Highway. AB is expected to be closed for at least a couple of hours while an inspector from St. Louis comes to inspect the train. Drivers are urged to use alternate routes.

Cape Girardeau and Scott County emergency personnel and the Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
