CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A man was arrested for what appears to be an attempted robbery in Cape Girardeau.

Cape Girardeau Police Officer Darin Hickey identifies the suspect as 21-year-old Justin Patterson.

Patterson told police he is homeless.

A witness says he was walking near Themis & Silver Springs Road over the weekend when someone matching Patterson's description pulled up and told him to get in his car.

The suspect threatened the victim with a knife and told him to hand over some personal belongings.

He then let the suspect go near Quizno's on William, but never actually took anything.

An officer later arrested Patterson at the police station. Officer Hickey says Patterson had been taken in for another offense.

He was in jail on $75,000 bond.

Patterson is also charged with robbery, armed criminal action and felonious restraint.
