Southeast Missouri State men's basketball team failed to make a final push in overtime against Eastern Illinois losing 78-72 Saturday night.
Southeast's Tyler Stone had another double-double on the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing a team-leading 12 rebounds. Corey Wilford added 20 points to lead the Redhawks in scoring. Despite playing 29 minutes, Nino Johnson scored one point.
Eastern Illinois' Sherman Blanford led the Panthers to victory with 21 points and 16 rebounds, both team highs. Blanford scored two free throws to force overtime where he would hit the go-ahead bucket to give the Panthers a lead that they would not give up. Josh Piper also helped the Panthers with 13 points and nine rebounds.
The Redhawks are now 11-12 overall and 3-6 in OVC play. Southeast next tips off against Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 2 at the Show Me Center.
