The Salukis (8-12, 1-8) are off to their worst Missouri Valley Conference start since 1981.
Desmar Jackson led SIU with 16 points, adding four steals. Josh Swan started for Jeff Early, who was suspended by the league for the game, and scored nine points along with five steals.
The Salukis forced 18 turnovers, but Creighton dominated the glass, out-rebounded SIU 37-17.
Southern Illinois stays at home for its next game Wednesday hosting Drake at 7:05 p.m.
