DELTA, MO (KFVS) -

The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado tore through the community of Delta, Mo. Tuesday night.

It came through at 9:13 p.m. beginning 1.5 miles southwest of Delta and lifted one mile west of Blomeyer.

The tornado reached peak winds of 100 mph, had an average width of 75 yards, and a length of 5.6 miles.

People in Delta say the storm came through with a roar Tuesday night, and thankfully, everyone knew what to do and made it through unhurt.

From trees and power lines down to homes ripped apart, what is seen there is a lot of damage scattered all over town.

Everyone in town agrees that Beth and Jeremy Henson's home on State Street took quite a beating.

Their home of 13 years has damage to the roof and walls, and their truck is totaled.

They also have the roof of Delta One Stop in their front yard.

Beth Henson says she and her husband and teenage daughter were home Tuesday night when the lights started to flicker.

The winds hit within seconds, and Henson says her husband Jeremy got out of the way just in time.

"We just heard this huge crash," said Henson. "And he started yelling at us, telling us to get into the bathroom. So we ran to the bathroom. And, when we came back out, we realized there is a board that came three feet into the house. And if it would of kept coming through, it would have killed my husband."

Wednesday is the Henson's 20th anniversary and they are very happy in spite of everything that happened last night. They're happy to be celebrating alive and together.
