LIVINGSTON COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

State Police say a Hampton, Kentucky man faces stolen property charges in connection to a suspected "chop shop operation."

Joseph Shane Robinson, 38, of Hampton, Ky., was arrested on January 31 and charged with the following felony offenses: receiving stolen property-over $500; receiving stolen property-over $500; receiving stolen property-under $10,000; receiving stolen property-over $10,000.

State Police say they discovered a significant amount of property that had been reported stolen to several other law enforcement agencies.

Troopers discovered a suspected "chop shop operation" with two stolen Harley Davidson motorcycles being recovered in January. Police say one that was reported stolen to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, and one that was reported stolen in the state of Ohio.

Robinson was charged with the following additional crimes on February 6: 

Receiving stolen property-Under $10,000, obscuring the identity of a machine-under $10,000, receiving stolen property-over $10,000, criminal mischief.

Police say the investigation has led to the recovery of now five stolen Harley Davidson motorcycles and Harley Davidson motorcycle parts, from four states.  It has also resulted in charges related to three stolen trailers, and the recovery of two reported stolen trailers.

Troopers also reportedly recovered numerous other motorcycle parts believed to have been removed from other stolen motorcycles.

In addition, Troopers recovered an enclosed trailer that was reported stolen to the Crittenden County Sheriff's Department.

Police say also recovered were items stolen furnishings and electronics in a November theft in Kuttawa, Ky., that had been reported to the Lyon County Sheriff's Department.

Robinson was taken to the McCracken County Jail. The investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police.
