Do you plan to work past retirement age? You're not alone. New research shows more Americans plan to keep working longer.
It seems more people are working into their late 60s and even beyond.
Some because they just want to, and for others the big reason is money.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 18.5 percent of Americans who were 65 and older worked in 2012.
That's compared to 10.8 percent back in 1985.
Linda Copeland, 66, of Cape Girardeau is a home health care worker.
She would really like to retire, but can't afford to right now.
She actually had to stop working a couple of years ago to take care of her dying husband.
She's now back in the work force because Social Security and her husband's pension just isn't cutting it.
"I could have retired, but I chose not to," said Linda Copeland. "I plan to work until I can't work any longer. I am very proud of myself, even though I am in a financial bind, I can support myself and still help other people."
She says it makes her feel good to know she is still making a difference in the lives of others.
Don't get her wrong, she is hoping to enjoy the retirement life in the near future.
Ruth Dockins with the SEMO Area Agency on Aging says she's seeing more and more people working past 65.
She's one of them. She says the biggest reason is the cost of healthcare.

Last night was the 62nd annual Miss USA pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Contestants from all 50 states and territories of the Unites States went heel to heel on stage at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. Miss Connecticut, Erin Brady, ended up walking away with the grand title of Miss USA, but it was Miss Utah who really stood out from the rest of the competitors.
