WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Police had to break up what they are calling a mini-riot early Saturday morning.

The brawl happened at the corner of Bridge and Main streets.

CBS 3 Springfield media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported a birthday party gone bad was the cause.

West Springfield police were assisted by Massachusetts State Police and Springfield police to break up the fight.

They estimate that somewhere between 300 and 400 people were involved, however, the crowd dispersed quickly when police arrived.

One person was arrested.
