CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -
Cape Girardeau fire crews responded to a fire call at a small apartment duplex in Cape Girardeau on Sunday night.
It happened in the 2700 block of Hawthorne Road shortly before 7 p.m.
Crews say one room was damaged in the minor blaze.
According to Assistant Fire Chief Mark Hashheider, the cause of the fire was a juvenile playing with a lighter. He says the fire originated in a bedroom closet.
Hashheider says an adult was treated for injuries at the scene after using a fire extinguisher.
Crews were able to put out the fire rather quickly.
