Man found buried in insulation in an attic, arrested

    A fire in Oran destroyed a 2-story house on Tuesday morning.      According to the Oran Fire Department, it happened at 4:05 a.m. at 907 highway W, which is right in the middle of town.     Firefighters
    No one was living in the home at the time of the time. Fire crews tell Heartland News that the family had just moved out.
KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

Kennett police arrested a man after finding drug paraphernalia in a woman's car and the man hiding in her attic.

Jason Roper, 29, of Kennett was arrested on resisting arrest and 1st degree trespass charges.

Kennett police were dispatched to the 800 block of Dolph Street in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway.

Officer found the vehicle parked with its doors open and drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the car.

A female walked up to the car and claimed ownership. She told officers that another person had taken the car and drove it without her permission.

Officer searched her home in the 800 block of Riggs Street. The found evidence a person might be hiding in the attic. The Kennett Fire Department brought a ladder to the home.

Officers found Jason Roper buried in the insulation in the attic.

Roper had been previously banned from the Kennett Housing Authority property.

He was taken to the Dunklin County Jail.

Officers also located other items of drug paraphernalia inside the home.

The investigation is ongoing.
