TRINITY, TX (KTRE) -
A search is entering its third day as Trinity Police officers' hunt for a man who they say bolted from officers after they attempted to serve a warrant on him after he tried to have sex with a 12-year-old girl.
Early Friday morning Trinity Police said officers are still actively looking for their suspect.
Chief Steve Jones said officers attempted to serve the warrant on Robert Corley, 28, around midnight Wednesday at his house on the 100 block of Dryden Street. Jones said he and a constable were in the back and waiting in case he tried to run out the back door. But Corley ran out the back door and down a different trail, Jones said.
"We had a feeling that he may run from us from our past experience with him, so myself and Constable Cole went and hid in the back woods and came up from behind the house and waited on a trail that we've known that's been used before because we've actually been to this house several times with other people that have lived here for drug related charges," Jones said.
Jones said officers obtained a warrant to search the property and found a small amount of marijuana and traces of cocaine. Jones believes Corley was able to grab a weapon and drugs before he ran.
"We located a stash of ammunition under the mattress," Jones said.
Anyone with information on Corley should call 936-594-2505.
According to an arrest warrant obtained on Wednesday, Corley texted the 12-year-old girl and asked to have sex with her. He also provided tips on how she could remove evidence that they had sex.
The warrant is for a charge of second-degree online solicitation of a minor.
Jones said Corley is out on bond on unrelated drug charges.
