KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -
A Kennett man and woman await charges after drug agents say they found meth labs inside and outside their home.
According to Lt. Tim Trowbride, the Kennett Police Strategic Response Team (SRT) served a search warrant in the 200 block on Jones Street Friday after an ongoing investigation with the Kennett Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
SRT members entered and secured the home without confrontation.
Once inside, officers with ATF, Kennett police and the Bootheel Drug Task Force began a search and found what they supposed an active meth lab both in and outside the home.
Police say agents seized both of the meth labs. Officers also found a number of controlled substances and paraphernalia. A gun was seized by ATF.
Dwayne M. Whitley, 37, and Anitra E. Johnson, 26, both of Kennett, were arrested and taken to the Dunklin County Jail awaiting filing of formal charges from the Dunklin County prosecutor's office.
Charges sought include, attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and three counts of child endangerment.
Police say three small children were present during the search. The children were put into custody of juvenile authorities who were on the scene.
Kennett Police Chief James Paine would like to thank the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and the Bootheel Drug Task Force for their assistance.
