DYERSBURG, TN (KFVS) -

Dyersburg police investigators have charged a 20-year-old Dyersburg man in connection with the attempted child abduction of an 11-year-old child in November.

James Alexander Weaver, 20, of 1711 Johnson Street, Dyersburg, was arrested by Dyersburg Police on February 13 and charged with kidnapping.

Police responded to the 1700 block of Schaffer Street in reference to an attempted child abduction on November 1, 2012, at approximately 7:19 a.m.

Officers interviewed the 11-year-old girl, who reported that she left her home walking to a school bus stop when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her and attempted to drag her to an abandoned house nearby.

The victim struggled with the attacker and was able to break free and ran home.

Investigators developed Weaver as a person of interest, which led to the charges.
