FULTON, KY (KFVS) -

A western Kentucky man is facing assault charges after police say a two-month-old received serious head and other injuries.

Fulton Police Chief Terry Powell says Cordarious Cantrell Harris, 20, of Fulton, Kentucky, faces assault in the first-degree charges after he allegedly assaulted a two-month-old female baby that caused her serious injuries.

The chief says on Wednesday, February 20, Fulton police along with an ambulance, was sent to Vanlea Drive after a 911 call.

Powell says the baby was not breathing when officers arrived. The baby was taken to an area hospital, stabilized and then flown to a Memphis hospital for treatment.

Powell says reports show the two-month-old received abusive head injuries and stomach-area injuries, along a number of other injuries.

According to the chief, the two-month-old was listed in stable condition and continues to get medical tests at a Memphis area hospital.
