POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Poplar Bluff Chief Deputy Jeff Rolland says a fire broke out at an apartment complex just before noon on Wednesday.

The apartment complex is located in the 1400 block of Main Street.

Officers say the fire was contained to one unit but other units had water damage due to the sprinklers which were activated.

They say two people were staying in the unit and are staying elsewhere for the time being.

The fire marshal has been called in to investigate.

There are roughly 15 units in the complex. Rolland says it used to be an old hospital which had been converted.
