CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The day after a fatal school shooting on Coastal Carolina University's campus classes have resumed for most, but others are finding comfort in one another.

Wednesday students could be seen walking to and from classes. A few did show emotion on their faces for fellow classmate Anthony Liddell who was gunned down outside of an apartment at University Place on Tuesday.

"You wouldn't believe it happened in your own back yard. It's just unbelievable it can happen at your school. I never thought it would happen," said Erin Keenan a student at CCU.

Keenan lives near where the fatal shooting took place. She said she is scared following the shooting, though others like Austin Wallace do not feel the same. Wallace said Wednesday is was just business as usual on campus. "It's pretty normal it doesn't feel much different than a normal day."

Normal wouldn't be how Shamell Davis would describe her friend Anthony Liddell, "the first time I ever spoke to him he asked me could he borrow a pencil, which I thought was funny, because you come to the first day of classes and you don't have a pencil?" Shamell smiles as she remembers her friend.

Davis said she will be taking part in the counseling services made available through CCU in the following days, "I know its tough losing someone."

The counseling services have been heavily utilized throughout the day on Wednesday according to Martha Hunn with the university. Counseling services will remain as long as there is a need among the student body.

Fran Damato who attended her classes on Wednesday said she expresses feeling concern about the security on campus after Liddell's shooting, but she also feels there is faith in the school and security who are on staff, "I believe the cops and everyone are doing a good job they know if we are in trouble or not."

Sarah Albod also attending her classes seemed disappointed with how some of her professors handled the day after a deadly shooting. Albod says she worries about security in place, " I'm here all hours of the day...I think they can go around locking doors and making security better."

Coastal Carolina University security officers did tell WMBF News they had extra officers working and those officers working longer hours will remain to be more visible for students.
