MT. JULIET, TN (WSMV) -

Eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 have reopened following a multiple-vehicle crash with injuries Thursday evening.

The wreck was reported about 8:20 p.m. near mile marker 226 in Mount Juliet.

Mount Juliet police said preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle approached slower traffic that had slowed due to construction in the area when the vehicle struck the back of another.

Both of those vehicles overturned, and a third vehicle was also struck in the process.

Police said two people were injured, including one person with a serious non-life threatening injury who was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

All lanes were back open by about 9:30 p.m.
