MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A semi truck driver and her son suffered minor injuries after a crash on US 60 in McCracken County on Monday.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened just after midnight when a semi truck driven by Tammy E. Lanier, 53, of Metter, Ga. was headed west on US 60.

Lanier said she swerved to avoid hitting an animal on the road, causing her to lose control of the truck and run into the ditch.

The truck then overturned onto the passenger side.

Lanier and her son, Timothy D. Napier, 32, were both able to get out safely and were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

US 60 was closed near Rice Springs Road for around 2 hours for removal and clean up.

The semi truck was loaded with paper.

McCracken County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the West McCracken Fire Department and McCracken County DES.
