HIGH RIDGE, MO (KFVS) -

Two men have been charged in a copper theft spree in Jefferson County, Mo.

David Howard, 22, of High Ridge, Mo. and Mathew Ehlen, 18, of High Ridge, Mo. each face five counts of burglary.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call on Jan. 29 to the 3300 block of Walnut Valley in High Ridge for a report of residential burglary.

Copper had been taken from the air conditioning unit and copper tubing take from inside the home.

The victim gave deputies a prescription bottle that had been left inside the burglarized home.

Deputies identified three suspects in the burglaries.

The suspects cooperated with the investigation and identified locations where they were involved in burglarizing, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

All of the locations were in the High Ridge and Fenton areas. Several of these locations had been reported to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and were being investigated. However, there were other locations which had not yet been reported to the sheriff's Office. The homes targeted were vacant due to foreclosure.

Howard and Ehlen were taken to the Jefferson County Jail on $250,000 cash only bond. The third suspect was released pending further review by the prosecutor.

The investigation continues. There could be other victims and suspects, according to the sheriff's office.
