ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

Press conference was scheduled in London on March 6 about the program of the Sixth Astana Economic Forum, which a dozen Nobel Prize winners have committed to attend, and the World Anti-Crisis Conference in Astana.

Both the Astana Economic Forum and the World Anti-Crisis Conference will be May 22 to 24 in Kazakhstan's capital of Astana.

The press conference in London about the two events was held at 10 a.m. at the Kazakhstan Embassy, 33 Thurloe Square, telephone +44(0)20-75903487, mobile telephone +44(0)777-5351105, email ainur.karbozova@kazembassy.org.uk

In its six short years, the Astana Economic Forum has become one of the world's premier economic conferences, drawing 8,500 participants last year. Its annual program includes some of the world's top economic thinkers, including many Nobel Prize-winning economists.

The World Anti-Crisis Conference will be an "event within an event" at this year's Astana Economic Forum. It will deal with ways to solve the world's ongoing economic and financial crises.

The press conference in London will deal with the G-Global Initiative as well as the programs of this year's Astana Economic Forum and World Anti-Crisis Conference.

G-Global is Kazakhstan's effort to broaden the number of countries that dominate the setting of international economic and financial policy.

Currently the Group of 20 nations dominate the process. Kazakhstan's president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, believes it would be fairer for the number of policy setters to be broadened to about 70 nations, including developing countries.

Nazarbayev conceived of both G-Global and the World Anti-Crisis Conference, which the United Nations is supporting. Kazakhstan set up a G-Global website at http://www.group-global.org to facilitate discussion of international economic problems and to seek solutions to them.

The main speaker at the press conference in London was Serik Nugerbekov. The Kazakhstan senator is co-chair of the organization arranging both the Astana Economic Forum and the World Anti-Crisis Conference. That organization is the Eurasian Economic Club of Scientists Association, or EECSA, which consists of leading economists and other economic thinkers in Central Asia and elsewhere.

EECSA has asked leaders of the diplomatic corps in the United Kingdom to attend the press conference, along with economists, university professors, government officials, business leaders and international organizations.

 Background about the G-Global website

EECSA started the website in January 2012 to help realize President Nazarbayev's G-Global vision.

One of its aims is to expand the number of those discussing, and seeking solutions, to the global economic and financial crises. It is open to everyone, regardless of expertise.

The website has become a truly global forum, attracting participants from 150 countries.

Background about the Astana Economic Forum organizers

Although the main organizer of the Astana Economic Forum is EECSA, many other Kazakhstan and international organizations help put together the annual event.

They include 14 Kazakhstan government ministries, the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna sovereign wealth fund, the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Re-inventing Bretton Woods Committee, the Club of Madrid, and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
