SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -
Two robberies sparked a car chase through several Western Mass towns Friday night.
Springfield police tell CBS 3 a Ford Expedition was seen fleeing two robberies in Springfield, one on Chester Street and another on Clifton Avenue.
Police had to chase the SUV down Interstate 291 into Chicopee, through Granby and Ludlow then back to Chicopee where the chase ended when police used a spike strip to stop the car.
Two men were arrested, including John Matos, 19, of Springfield and William Walker, 21, of Hartford, CT. A juvenile was also arrested.
Police say during the chase they saw one of the suspects throw a gun out of the window, they later located that gun on the side of the road, along the woods.
Police say they also found a large amount of marijuana in the car, which they say was stolen out of Hartford earlier Friday.
The men will be held over the weekend and face charges of armed robbery, refusing to submit to police and assault by means of dangerous weapon.
