Baby found in backseat after deadly crash

TRIGG COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

An infant was discovered in the backseat of a car involved in a deadly crash on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Kentucky State Police, the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. when 63-year-old Waynette Cain was driving south on KY-139 and lost control of her car.

The car ran off the road, struck a tree and then ran into a creek bed.

Cain was partially ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crews on the scene discovered a 7-month-old boy in the rear passenger seat. The infant was in a car seat and was responsive and alert.

The boy was taken to the Trigg County emergency room, was evaluated and then released to family.

Trigg County Sheriff's Office, Trigg County EMS, County Rescue Squad and the Trigg County Coroner's Office all assisted on the scene.
