MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -
Officials say a complaint about a suspicious vehicle lead to a car chase in McCracken County Monday which ended in multiple charges.
Sgt. Michael Wray received a complaint around 6:30 p.m. while on duty that a car was driving on a gravel road near some farm land that is not being used.
A few minutes later, the suspicious car was spotted.
The driver, Rodney T. Burnett, 40 of Paducah and the passenger, Terry Byerly, also 40 of Paducah, were identified.
Sgt. Wray tried to get the vehicle to stop and Burnett then started driving away at high speed and drove into Graves County.
Once in Graves County, Burnett turned onto KY State Route 348 and continued to make several different turns before officials say he nearly hit a McCracken County Deputy and went through the yard of a home, causing damage to the area.
It was then discovered that several bags of methamphetamine had been thrown from the car in order to hide evidence.
Officials searched the vehicle and also found crystal meth and money.
Burnett and Byerly reportedly have extensive criminal histories and both were taken to McCracken County Jail.
Burnett has been charged with fleeing or evading police, 1st degree; 3 counts of wanton endangerment, 1st degree; possession of controlled substance, 1st degree; operating a motor vehicle on a revoked or suspended license, 3rd offense; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol, 3rd offense; 8 counts of failure to or improper signal; 9 counts of improper lane usage; criminal mischief, 3rd degree; speeding over 26 miles-per-hour; failure to maintain required insurance and improper flashing lights.
Byerly was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree.
