Zeigler man injured in crash

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

State Police say a Zeigler man was flown to a hospital after being thrown from his car during a crash on Tuesday.

It happened on Interstate 57 at mile marker 61 shortly before 3 p.m.

According to ISP, a tractor trailer driven by Thomas Edward Swantek, Jr. of Ira, Michigan was traveling north in the left lane passing lane and a Ford Mustang driven by Francisco Rebolledo of Zeigler, Ill. was traveling north in the right lane.

Police say Swantek moved into the right lane causing the Mustang to crash into the center median where Rebolledo was ejected. Rebolledo received serious injuries and was life flighted to Evansville.

The tractor trailer was carrying one passenger who received non-life threatening injuries. The driver of tractor trailer did not receive any injuries.

Illinois State Police, Williamson County Sheriff Deputies, West Frankfort Fire, Police, and Williamson County EMS assisted with the crash.

Police say charges are pending. The crash is under investigation.
