A Murfreesboro mother says a former Tennessee Titans cheerleader touched
her son inappropriately inside a bathroom at the family's home.
In February, police begin to investigate after the boy told his mom that a woman, identified as Elizabeth Garner, 42, of Nashville, molested him.
Police and a representative with the Department of Children's Services later talked to the boy, who said Garner was drinking at the home where the child lives when the alleged abuse took place.
The child said when he went to go use the restroom, Garner followed him. The police report says Garner asked the child if "he had ever been with a woman" and also grabbed the boy's penis on the outside of his pants.
The child said he left the bathroom and told his mother.
Garner told police that she was drunk and mistook the boy for a man who was at the home. She is charged with aggravated sexual battery and solicitation of a minor.
Now, Garner is firing back, saying there is a lot more to the story than what police are saying.
Although she wouldn't appear on camera for an interview, she said it was the mother of that 12-year-old who actually assaulted her. Garner said the woman had been in a tumultuous relationship with Garner's brother for years.
In fact, Garner said, the allegations of molestation weren't made until days later after the woman realized Garner was considering criminal charges.
Garner said this isn't the first time something like this has happened and said she has a year-old recording in which this same woman allegedly threatens to "ruin" her brother's life and "tell police he was a child molester".
A Murfreesboro police spokesman said Thursday this is the first he's heard of those alleged threats.
