Wrecks in south Nashville reroute traffic, knock out gas service

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A car crash is to blame for a gas leak Monday morning in a south Nashville neighborhood.

The wreck happened on Fairfield Avenue in the Napier area just after midnight.

Officers said the driver lost control of his car and hit the gas line, which caused a leak.

No residents are in any danger, but some homes could be without gas while crews make repairs.

There's no timetable for how long that could take.

Crash knocks out utility pole

A separate wreck downed a utility pole overnight on Hermitage Avenue.

The crash happened close to Fairfield and Decatur streets and downed light pole.

The street will be closed for several hours while a Nashville Electric Service crew replaces the pole. Traffic in the area is being rerouted.
