HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

It's a building that has stood the test of time for more than 100 years.

But those who walk the halls of Harrisburg High School say the list of structural problems is getting longer and longer.

Now, voters will have to decide if they'd rather build a new school or preserve the local landmark.

Last spring voters in Saline County approved a 1% sales tax hike.

However, it's how the money will be used toward construction of the school that has the town divided.

In just three weeks, voters will either check yes or no to build a completely new school or renovate the old one.

Allison Twaits attended a rotary meeting in Harrisburg Monday that outlined a proposal to build a new high school.

Voters will get to cast their ballot for or against a bond issue on the April 9 ballot.
