RANDOLPH COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Illinois State Police have confirmed one person has died in a fiery crash near the Perry - Randolph county line.

The coroner was on the scene of the serious wreck.

Emergency crews have blocked off the area starting at Route 150 and Illinois Route 4.

According to Illinois State Police trooper David Sneed, the wreck happened around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday at County Line Road and Black Stump Road. That's about four miles north of the town of Willisville.

We initially heard from Trooper Sneed that a coal truck was pulling out of Knight Hawk Coal company and somehow collided with a propane truck.

A preliminary investigation report released by ISP says the driver of the propane tanker, Mickey E. Clayton, 55, from Franklin, Ill. died. Randy E. Edwards, 48, from Pinkneyville was driving the coal truck and was no injured.

Also in the report it says Edwards was driving the coal truck northbound on county line road and was stopped, making a left-hand turn. They say Clayton in the propane truck failed to stop and ran into the back of the coal truck, causing the propane tank to catch fire.

Emergency crews say the wreck happened in a rural area and they were trying to decide if they need to evacuate nearby homes.
