The Jackson County Health Department hosted its first Free Diabetes Health Screening Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale.

In honor of Diabetes Alert Day, they helped dozens of people get screened to see if they were at risk for diabetes.

County health officials say that type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed if you take the necessary steps.

Officials say it is important that you get checked out to make sure you on top of this if you think you may be at risk.
