An Eldorado man was convicted of first degree murder Friday of a 4-year-old girl.

Richard Turner II, 35, of Eldorado was convicted Friday of the murder of 4-year-old Jessika R. James.

James died of head trauma on June 22, 2009 at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

In 2009, paramedics responded to a 911 call and found James unresponsive and in critical condition.

Turner was dating the child's mother when the crime took place.

A jury returned the guilty verdict after being deadlocked twice.

Turner's sentencing is set for May 16 at 10 a.m.
