Study: Adults texting and driving more than kids

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - In a recent survey done by AT&T more adults are texting-while-driving than teenagers.

"Hate to say that it is more teenagers because they grow up in it but there are still a lot of adults out there that text and drive as well," said Jonesboro resident Chris Dyson.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 31 percent of drivers reported texting or emailing while driving.

"Texting has been a form of communication for the last decade or two decades so there are still a lot of adults out there, as myself that do text and drive," said Dyson.

It's seen just about everywhere on the roads and for some locals they say it doesn't matter what age group you fall under.

"When I go home at night and I'm on Parker Road and South Culberhouse, I see a lot of people of all ages who are erratic in their driving. When you get close enough to them you see that they're doing something with their cell phone," said Jonesboro resident Glenn Joner.

When we asked a young driver, the answer was a little different.

"I would say teenagers because we're more we know more about texting and the special apps that are out," said Jonesboro resident Dora Hill.
