HICKMAN, Ky. (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to shooting to death a western Kentucky mayor has been sentenced to more than 37 years in prison.
The Paducah Sun reports Thomas Lattus received the sentence in Fulton Circuit Court on Thursday.
Lattus pleaded guilty but mentally ill to murdering 68-year-old Hickman Mayor Charles Murphy last year.
He told investigators he shot Murphy because he believed Murphy had hurt his mother.
Hickman is a town of 2,500 people in southwestern Kentucky.
