POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Dozens of people in Butler County were excited to get their things back after sheriff's deputies caught a trio of thieves in the act. Police say the three hit 29 storage units in just a few days.

Rocky Brandon Nicholson, 27, was charged with felony stealing and 1st degree property damage.

Bradley Eugene Williams, 32, was charged with felony stealing and 1st degree property damage.

Franklin Eugene Williams, 58, was charged with felony stealing and 1st degree property damage and in custody for a probation violation with no bond.

Apparently, the three men-a father and son-and their friend told investigators they were after anything of value so that they could sell it to make money to pay off child support.

Twenty-nine storage units at four different locations, and over flowing from two truck loads and a car, were bikes, golf clubs, appliances. It was anything they could sell.

Investigators say they got the first report from Sheppard's Storage Units on Monday, and from there several more came in.

Police say that at a couple of the other locations the suspects had cut the locks but had not taken anything yet.

So, investigators set up surveillance. Sure enough, police say the Williams' family and Nicholson returned. They caught them loading up a car. The three told Butler County sheriff's deputies if they hadn't been caught, they planned to keep going until they made enough to pay back that child support.

"Oh they were on a roll," said Cpl. Randle Huddleston. "They would have kept going. We've spent most of today calling people telling them they can come and get their stuff."

Butler County sheriff's deputies also got some help from the K9 unit.

Those victims and storage unit owners say they are thankful the suspects were caught so quickly.
