Shreveport family shaken after tree crushes home

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A second snap of severe weather whipped through the region on Easter Sunday, leaving two Shreveport families shaken up after a huge tree crushed one house and damaged another.

"It felt like something had hit the house like a car or something," said Rachel Sharp, whose Easter holiday took a turn, when strong winds slapped this tree onto her house, sticking limbs through this window and crushing two cars. Once Sharp realized her family was okay, she asked her husband to check on the family of five that lives next door. "I didn't know it was this bad, until we walked out the front door," said Sharp's husband Scott.

The neighbors house was crushed. He and another neighbor kicked in the door, to find all of the walls had caved in."Finding someone not alive, that was my worst fear," said Sharp. But that fear, didn't come true because nobody was home.

Katrina Hanely stood in front of her ruined house Sunday, wiping away tears. "I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was going to be bad as it was," said Hanely. Although everyone is safe, its hard for her to not wonder what could have happened to her family, had they been home. Now as they begin picking up the pieces, support from the neighborhood is pouring in. Both families say they are counting their blessings knowing everyone is safe.
