Three men arrested after alleged illegal drug exchange

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Jeffery Mcgregor, 25, of Ludlow, Thomas Mendrala, 20, of Palmer and Daniel Wilkins, 37, of Springfield were all arrested in Springfield after allegedly making an illegal drug exchange in parking lot Tuesday night.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, detectives responded to a parking lot on 459 Main St. after receiving several complaints from residents about possible drug dealers selling throughout the day and night there.

According to Delaney, after only minutes of setting up a surveillance, detectives spotted a tan Jeep pull into the lot as two customers approached the Jeep right away.

Delaney said the driver sold the waiting customers pills in exchange for cash. Head Detective Kalish then called for backup. Once they arrived, Kalish ordered backup teams to surround the lot and arrest the subjects in the Jeep.

Mcgregor, the alleged dealer, faces many charges including distribution of Methadone and distribution of Oxycodone.

Mendrala and Wilkins, the alleged customers, were charged with possession of a Class B substance.

With the snow coming tomorrow, some schools are already canceling or delaying. Gateway Regional in Huntington is using a 'blizzard bag day.' It's a way to count a snow day as a regular day, but how do schools determine if it can be a 'blizzard bag day' or not?
